Private Branch
A poem.
Mar 29, 2021
I whittled a shack
from this winding, gnarled limb
engulfed in my guilt
I’m perched upon the highest branch
sifting through what I sacrificed
what I considered proper payment due
Feasting on wild rice
and lukewarm pozole
flourishing on fragments of broken Spanish
